Frank Lampard Talks On Kai Andrews Decision Ahead Of Coventry City Transfer

Frank Lampard has predicted that young Kai Andrews will go on to become a ‘big player’ for Coventry City in the years to come, as the Sky Blues weigh up the attacker’s next move this summer – if, indeed, it involves one at all.

Playmaker Andrews was the only one of 21 senior players to complete 90 minutes on Wednesday night as City comfortably beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 at the Memorial Stadium in their latest pre-season friendly, and the teenager certainly impressed over the course of the evening.

Wales youth international Andrews spent the second half of last season on loan at Motherwell in Scotland, and while Lampard – who has clearly really enjoyed working with the winger this summer – hasn’t totally ruled out the prospect of another loan, he’d be more than happy to have Andrews to call upon this Championship campaign.

“He’s integrated already,” Lampard said. “That’s where we’re at. We’ll see, and there are a lot of weeks to go, but the way he has trained, the way he has come back…some young players stick out because they have not just talent, but attitude.

“He has a great attitude. Kai has that. You can work with him, because he wants to get better. Some players you have to explain that to them that everyday matters, but with Kai you don’t.

“He’s going to be a big player for Coventry, in my opinion. I’ve enjoyed working with him. We’ll see [about the future], but at the moment he’s in our squad and, as you can see at Bristol Rovers, he plays 90 minutes and he looks as though he could’ve played another 90 minutes. It’s a great start.”
