Every Derby County Linked In The Winter Transfer Window

Derby County ended the winter transfer window with four signings as they added to their squad for the final time this season.

A move for Viking FK striker Lars-Jorgen Salvesen kicked off Derby’s business before Matt Clarke arrived on a deal until the end of the season from Middlesbrough.

Salvesen was then joined by his Viking FK team-mate Sondre Langas as the club forked out £4m for his services after selling Eiran Cashin to Brighton for £9m.

But the moves did not stop there as Harrison Armstrong arrived on deadline day on a deal until the end of the season. They were just four of the players to arrive that Derby were linked with, but what happened to the others? Here DerbyshireLive takes a look……

Dan Barlaser

The former Rotherham midfielder was linked with a Paul Warne reunion during the January window and Derby certainly made enquiries for the midfielder.

However, Boro had an in-and-out policy, and on deadline day, Barlaser was on the bench for a game against Sunderland.

That ended all hope of Derby securing his signature.

Anfernee Dijksteel

The Dutchman was targeted as part of a double swoop with Barlaser to help add cover to the right-back position after Kane Wilson picked up a hamstring injury.

He was linked with other clubs too, but ended up staying put at Boro along with Barlaser. Will probably move on in the summer.

John Swift

Derby had attempted a late push to sign Swift from West Brom, and he would have been an excellent capture and provided some creativity to the attack.

But the attacking midfielder stayed put at the Baggies who are now managed by Tony Mowbray.

Jayden Danns

Once Liverpool had sanctioned Danns for a loan move, the striker was linked with many Championship clubs, including Derby.

But having impressed on the odd occasion he played for the first team at Liverpool, the chances were that he would always go to one of the promotion challengers.

Sunderland stepped in to sign him on loan until the end of the season, but a back injury has prevented him from making his debut.

Karlan Grant

The West Brom striker was linked with Derby on deadline day as the Rams searched for another forward.

But Grant, who has scored six goals this season, did not move anywhere and he remains part of the Baggies’ squad trying to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Lewis O’Brien

Reports claimed that Derby were keen on doing a deal for the Nottingham Forest midfielder after his return from a loan spell in America.

It was claimed that Derby had put one of the best deals on the table along with Swansea, but it was said he wanted a move to a club with playoff ambitions.

He moved to Swansea who are in dreadful form and have now sacked manager Luke Williams.

Elie Youan

It was claimed in reports north of the border that Derby were monitoring the Hibernian striker after a bid from another Championship club was rejected.

Deadline day came and went without the forward moving anywhere.

Lasse Nordas

There were some reports in Italy that claimed Derby were in for the winger given Cagliari were also keen.

But it was actually Luton who secured his signature for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old cost north of £2m. Has made just one appearance from the bench so far.

Louie Barry

Was linked with just about every Championship club in the winter window after scoring a ridiculous amount of goals for Stockport in League One while on loan from Aston Villa.

Derby were among those interested, but Hull City secured his signature, and it was not cheap. Villa secured Barry on a new contract and as well as a £1m loan fee, Hull also had to pay his £25,000-a-week wages.
