Sheffield Wednesday’s first away game of the 2024/25 season – in the Carabao Cup – will take place on August 14th.
It was confirmed last week that the Owls would be taking on Hull City in their first cup game of the campaign, however it was only stated that the tie would take place in the week of August 12th.
With Wednesday’s opening Championship game against Plymouth Argyle having been chosen for Sky Sports Football it was pencilled in for Sunday August 11th at 4pm, so a midweek game afterwards was always going to take place later than any teams in action on Friday or Saturday.
Now the date and time of the game has been announced by Wednesday as Danny Röhl and his side continue their preparations for the weeks ahead, and they’ll be traveling to East Yorkshire three days after playing host to the Pilgrims at Hillsborough.
The club has said on their official website, “The Owls’ Carabao Cup clash with Hull will take place on Wednesday 14 August. The first round tie gets underway at 7:45pm at the MKM Stadium… Ticket details will be confirmed in due course.”
Wednesday have two games booked in between now and their first competitive fixture, starting with Alfreton Town this coming weekend and ending with the visit of LaLiga outfit, Leganes, on August 3rd, however with a trip to Germany also on the cards it is thought that there may be another fixture or two for Röhl to put his side to the test.
