Derby County Statement After Pride Park ‘Alarm Clock’ Disturbs Dozens Of Locals For The Second Time

Residents living near Derby County’s Pride Park reported a loud noise coming from the stadium in the early hours of Wednesday (February 26) morning. A video taken at around 5.30am shows the moment a woman awoke to loud noises from the ground’s tannoy system.

It’s not the first time residents have had their sleep disturbed. Back in August, similar sounds were heard echoing around the area, this time between 2am and 2.45am. On that occasion, police attended in case they were required and alerted the fire service too.

A spokesperson for Derby County said of the latest incident: “The emergency alarm was triggered at Pride Park Stadium in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“A maintenance engineer will be on site over the course of the day to investigate further and perform checks. Whilst this was unfortunately out of the club’s control, we apologise for both the disturbance and inconvenience to anybody affected.”

The noise was heard as far away as Chaddesden and Spondon.

One Chaddesden resident, Nikita Rusko, said: “There’s clearly something wrong with the system because it keeps going off at random times. Last night was exceptionally loud, so I’m guessing the wind was blowing over Chad.” Steve Winson added: “And over Spondon.”

Calvin Sadler joked: “Perfect for me, it saved me setting my alarm.” Liz Green remarked: “Who do we complain to? I’ve sent an email to them to have a moan.

“Wouldn’t mind but not the first time it’s done it at stupid o’clock.” Laura Walton simply said: “That was ridiculously loud.”
