Derby County’s early insistence that Eiran Cashin would not leave Pride Park this season seems to have waned, according to a report.
The Telegraph claim the centre back is ‘edging closer’ towards an exit to Brighton, citing a £10 million deal but saying the Rams ‘are seeking a package worth a total £15m’. They expect the Seagulls to work out a deal before the window closes on Monday, February 3.
It is well-known the 23-year-old has been a target for Brighton who tried to sign him 12 months ago and are said to have submitted further offers for him, including in the current window.
It is said the Rams ‘were’ intent on keeping him but that Brighton’s ‘aggressive’ approached has made a move away more likely.
A big offer causes Derby something of a quandary. It would certainly give them room to manoeuvre to strengthen their squad – but with Curtis Nelson currently out and Sonny Bradley having departed, they do not have many options in the middle of the defence. Matt Clarke’s arrival from Middlesbrough helps that.
