The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team has been thriving under the leadership of head coach Dawn Staley for the past several years.Â
Staley has led the program to three national titles since taking over as the head coach of the Gamecocks in 2008.
After the recent college basketball season, where Staley and the Gamecocks were eliminated in the national title game, Staley focused on ventures outside of the court.
Staley will be touring for a meet and greet, showcasing her “Uncommon Favor” book.
While she teased that there will be South Carolina events coming soon, Staley revealed that she will be in New York on May 22 and Philadelphia on May 23, promoting her new book.
After sharing the news with fans on social media, Staley posted a photo from the Philadelphia area, shouting out her hometown.
“What’s good my hood?!! Philly Philly!” Staley said.
Staley was born in Philadelphia and basketball has taken her around the country as a player and a coach.
She has been coaching at the collegiate level since 2000. Staley served as the head coach at Temple from 2000 to 2008 before taking over as head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks.
While she was a star in the WNBA, finishing her career as a six-time All-Star, Staley has truly made her mark coaching in the SEC.
As mentioned, Staley has brought South Carolina three national titles. But, she’s also led the Gamecocks to seven Final Four appearances, nine SEC Tournament titles and nine regular season conference titles.
