Coventry City ‘Working Hard’ To Sign Sweden International

Wolves 2-3 Coventry City: Astonishing four-goal finale sees Championship side make FA Cup semi-finals - Eurosport

Coventry City are ‘working hard’ to sign Hammarby’s goalkeeper Oliver Dovin, according to a report in Sweden which says it is the club’s ‘top priority’ in the transfer window.

The Sky Blues were loosely linked to the 21-year-old towards the end of June when it emerged that an unnamed Championship club from England were interested in his services.

Now Swedish football journalist Daniel Kristoffersson, who has 66k followers on the social media platform X, including Viktor Gyokeres, wrote: “Coventry City are working hard to sign Hammarby’s Oliver Dovin. The club hopes to finalize Bajen’s goalkeeper within the next few weeks.”

London-born Dovin has two senior caps for Sweden and plays in the country’s top division, Allsvenskan, where he has a growing reputation, helping Hammarby to a current fourth place position.

In Kristoffersson’s article in the Swedish newspaper Sport Bladet, the headline reads: “REVEALING: Oliver Dovin on his way to Coventry.”

The report continues: “According to Sportbladet’s information, Coventry City in The Championship have the player as their top priority – and hope to be able to sign the player within the next few weeks.

“Oliver Dovin has been Hammarby’s first goalkeeper for a long time now and this season he has been one of the top goalkeepers in the Allsvenskan. Even though he is only 21 years old, he has already managed two A international matches, eight U21 international matches and also played in 84 games for Hammarby.

“Last week, Tuttosvenskan stated that Dovin could be on his way out this summer as a number of clubs followed the Swede and were prepared to make an offer. But that negotiations were taking place was then denied by track manager Mikael Hjelmberg.”

The article continues: “According to Sportbladet’s information, however, it is Coventry City in the English Championship who are looking for Dovin and have him as their top priority in this window.

“The club should be well aware of the price tag as well and is expected to contact Hammarby shortly. They also hope to complete a deal in the next few weeks and there are many indications that Coventry will be Dovin’s next club, although nothing is finalized or agreed yet.”

Mark Robins released third choice stopper Simon Moore this summer, while Ben Wilson has become increasingly frustrated after losing his place to last summer’s signing Brad Collins.
