COVENTRY City goalkeeper Ben Wilson has become the new player ambassador for the club’s Disabled Supporters Association (DSA).
Wilson signed a new deal to remain with the Sky Blues earlier this month and will now act as ambassador for the DSA.
Established in partnership with Coventry and Level Playing Field, the DSA represent the views of disabled fans throughout the club
The club showed their support for Level Playing Field’s ‘Unite for Access’ campaign at the home fixture against Sunderland last weekend.
Wilson met with members of the DSA pitchside before Coventry’s win against the Black Cats to learn more about the work done by the DSA.
The DSA work in partnership with Coventry to improve the matchday experience for all disabled supporters.
Wilson said: “I put myself forward for the role of DSA Ambassador because I like being able to give back to our fan base but also the wider community.
“As one of the older squad members, I think it is important to get involved, show support and be a good role model. If I can help to raise awareness of the DSA and the work they are doing, that can only be a good thing.
“It was great to meet members of the group and I look forward to working alongside them, being an advocate for our fans with disabilities.’”
Disabled Supporters Association chair, Simone Seth added: “Since the departure of Liam Kelly from the club, the DSA have been awaiting the appointment of a new ambassador and the big reveal did not disappoint.
“The role was offered out to the first team players and we as a committee are absolutely over the moon that Ben Wilson put himself forward for the role. We could not think of a better advocate.
“As a senior player in the squad Ben told us that he is really looking forward to leading by example and getting involved with the DSA to make positive change and improve matchday experiences for all Sky Blue supporters as much as possible.
“We look forward to working with Ben going forward and really think he can bring a lot to the DSA.”
