Coventry City Retained List Confirmed as Four Senior Players Depart And Two Options Triggered

Coventry City have published their retained list with four players who are out of contract this summer moving on while two have had options triggered to keep them at the club for another year.

One senior player staying on is Jamie Allen, with Frank Lampard taking up a one-year option on the midfielder’s current deal to extend his time at the club to seven years until the summer of 2026.

Allen has already enjoyed an eventful and hugely memorable first six years with the Sky Blues, during which time he has helped the team to promotion to the Championship, two play-off campaigns and an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Head coach Lampard couldn’t have spoken more highly of the consummate professional during his first six months in charge, saying the 29-year-old is a terrific role model for younger players.

Discussing what he brings to the team during the past season, Lampard said: “What Jamie’s done has been so impressive to me because of his attitude when he wasn’t playing. The reason he came in and did so well was the way he was training when he wasn’t in the team. He works, doesn’t speak so much, gets on with his job and I have got a lot of respect for that.”

Elsewhere, Jamie Paterson has brought an end to his short but sweet spell at his hometown club and is set to join newly relegated Plymouth Argyle in League One at the end of next month when his contract officially comes to an end.

Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Luke Bell has been given a one-year extension after the club triggered an option in his contract, but fellow stopper Cian Tyler is joining two other senior development squad players – Jack Burroughs and Ryan Howley – in leaving the club after being released, all having come up through the Sky Blues Academy.

Released: Jack Burroughs, Ryan Howley, Jamie Paterson (expiry of short-term deal), Cian Tyler, Aston Ellard, Daniel Rachel, Kain Ryan, Jayden Smith.

Loan players returning: Kai Andrews, Aidan Dausch, Riccardo Di Trolio, Justin Obikwu.

Players still under contract: Jamie Allen, Kai Andrews, Tristen Batanwi, Norman Bassette, Luke Bell, Elliot Betjemann, Jake Bidwell, Luis Binks, Raphael Borges Rodrigues, Harvey Broad, Bradley Collins, Jay Dasilva, Aidan Dausch, Riccardo Di Trolio, Oliver Dovin, Josh Eccles, Charlie Finney, Matt Grimes, Liam Kitching, Joel Latibeaudiere, Ephron Mason-Clark, Isaac Moore, Justin Obikwu, Callum Perry, Jack Rudoni, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Greg Sandiford Jr, Ellis Simms, Ben Sheaf, Rylie Siddall, Bobby Thomas, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Victor Torp, Milan van Ewijk, Ben Wilson, Haji Wright, Kai Yearn.
