Ahmad Ghali has addressed transfer speculation linking him with a move to Coventry City. The Sky Blues are one of several clubs said to be keen on the Slovan Liberec midfielder, with Ipswich Town and Italian side AC Monza also credited with an interest.
Ghali can play as a right wing back or a winger but has been used primarily as a wing back by Liberec, who are 10th in the Czech top flight. Ghali has stared 13 of his team’s 19 league matches so far this term, providing two goals and three assists.
In an interview with Soccernet.ng, the 24-year-old was asked about the links with the Sky Blues and the Tractor Boys, and he told them: “To be honest, I saw the news like you, and my agent saw it as well.
“But the thing is, the discussion is not on me; it’s on my agents. I don’t like to get involved in transfer stories. My focus is on helping my team until the end of the season, and then my agents will handle everything regarding the transfers.
“A lot [of interested clubs] in Czech league and outside,” he added. “[I’d like] to be in the top five leagues in the world like Spain, England, Italy, Germany and France.”
Ghali has been with Slovan Liberec since 2022 and has a deal that runs to 2027 after signing an extension last summer, but it is claimed both club and player are willing to listen to offers in the current transfer window.
The Sky Blues are yet to sign anyone new this month – but a wing back could be an option given Frank Lampard’s decision to go with a back three in recent games.
