Birmingham City have completed the signing of centre-back Grant Hanley from Norwich City on a short-term deal.
Hanley has joined Blues on a free transfer and signed a six-month contract until the end of the season. Blues become the fourth club of the 33-year-old’s career after spells with Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United and Norwich.
During his time with the Canaries Hanley won two promotions to the Premier League and has spent the last six years as captain of the Carrow Road club. But his game time has been limited in the past two seasons and he has been out of favour under Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup this campaign.
Hanley has featured in four games for Norwich this season and has only played 20 minutes of club football since August.
Despite his lack of action at Carrow Road, Hanley started six Nations Leagues games for Scotland between September and November and helped them to wins over Croatia and Poland.
Hanley replaces Dion Sanderson following his loan move to Blackburn Rovers to give Chris Davies four options in central defence. Hanley, who has won 59 caps for his country, will battle Krystian Bielik, Christoph Klarer and Ben Davies for a place in Blues’ defence.
