Colorado Legend Shedeur Sanders Dodges Accountability For Legal Troubles

Shedeur Sanders was once projected by many as a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, after mismanaging the draft process, he ended up as a Day Three selection. That drastic fall raised serious concerns, and many have speculated about what really caused it.

As a rookie, Sanders joined a Cleveland Browns roster that already featured five quarterbacks. For any rookie QB, entering that kind of situation means having to work even harder to earn a spot. Instead, Sanders has now drawn attention for receiving two speeding violations within the span of a month—raising further questions about his maturity.

“A speeding ticket is far from the worst offense a person can commit, but this won’t do anything to challenge perceptions that Sanders lacks the maturity NFL teams look for in their franchise quarterback,” NBC’s Michael David Smith wrote.

The backlash has been swift. Several public figures have criticized Sanders for his decisions, including FS1’s Colin Cowherd, who didn’t hold back.

“And now this… 100 mph… Sorry, don’t minimize it, don’t pander. This is not good for a quarterback. Not good. As of today… I don’t think about him the same,” Cowherd said.

Given these violations, there’s growing concern about whether Sanders could face even more severe consequences—potentially even being pushed out of the league if a third incident occurs.

“Sanders should practice what he’s already preached. If he’s not more careful, the next ticket he’s served with could be the one-way variety – to football exile,” USA Today’s Nate Davis wrote.

As a rookie, Sanders would be expected to show remorse for these actions. But so far, he seems to be brushing the incidents off.

“In an awkward-at-best attempt at an apology Thursday at a charity softball game, Sanders admitted, ‘I’ve made some wrong choices.’ But he hardly seemed to take the situation seriously, failing to soften a bad look,” wrote Davis.

Shedeur Sanders said this about his speeding violation:
