Chris Davies Makes Midfielder Admission In Assessment Of Birmingham City Draw

Chris Davies thinks Birmingham City have played worse and won away from home this season after failing to get past Northampton Town for the second time.

The Cobblers joined Reading in avoiding defeat to Blues in their two League One fixtures this season. Keshi Anderson prevented Blues from falling to defeat at Sixfields with a well-placed header after Tomoki Iwata had inadvertently put Northampton ahead.

Blues improved after Anderson’s goal and had chances to win the game in the final 15 minutes that weren’t taken.

Interesting Birmingham City transfer revelation emerges about 25-year-old

Davies reflected: “We started too slowly, I told the players that and had the chance to address that in one of the water breaks when someone was down injured. We were too passive, too slow.

“Once we got into it and got the goal, we were good and we’ve played worse and won games away from home. We created chances to win it but we couldn’t quite get one in.”

The best chance undoubtedly fell to Willum Willumsson. Kieran Dowell whipped in a delicious delivery from the right and Willumsson somehow headed wide from six yards.

Willumsson, who stands at 6ft 4ins, has missed a number of headed chances this season and Davies has challenged him to improve that part of his game.

Davies commented: “Like all of them that have done well there’s always areas to improve and for him it would be. He arrives so well, gets there, and then it’s about finishing. I’m sure he’ll reflect on and think about that chance.

“There was a couple in the final 15 minutes and normally we would score one of those and we’d be talking about an away victory but it wasn’t to be today.”
