FORMER Leeds Rhinos and Catalans Dragons forward Mickael Goudemand has landed a trial with the reserves side of NRL club Newcastle Knights.

Goudemand, who left Leeds at the end of the 2024 Super League season, had been plying his trade in Australia after joining Junee Diesels in the Group 9 Rugby League competition.

The trial with Newcastle’s reserves side lasts until March 2026, with Goudemand being given a chance to earn a contract which could even see the Frenchman make his NRL debut if things go to plan.

Even if the move to the Knights doesn’t go to plan, the 29-year-old will have an offer from local Australian club Macquarie Scorpions.

Goudemand won the Challenge Cup with Catalans and also made two Super League Grand Finals where the French side were beaten by St Helens and Wigan Warriors.
