Bristol Rovers Boss Speaks On Weak Moments Against Peterborough United

Bristol Rovers boss Matt Taylor was frustrated to leave London Road empty handed on Saturday after watching Peterborough United collapse late in the game.

After being outclassed and falling 3-0 behind, Rovers scored twice in two minutes towards the end of the contest as Posh visibly wilted. It finished 3-2, but only after Posh ‘keeper Jed Steer had made two terrific saves leaving Rovers nursing back-to-back defeats and 19th place in the table.

Taylor said: “I think it’s fair to say they ‘went’ in that second half and we probably should have got something out of the game. In the second half we were miles better. It’s the hope that kills you because we can show what we could be as a team, but we were shaky as a group in the first half. We were not close enough to the play often enough to make a difference. We had too many weak moments. We were disconnected and really poor in terms of coming out on top in individual moments of the game.

“The goals they scored are incredibly poor goals and then all of a sudden, we send on a couple of substitutes who had a real impact in terms of their physicality, first and foremost, and their movement, and then the game was just totally different. We just gave ourselves too much to do.”
