The Minnesota Timberwolves have added another important component to their youthful core by signing him after locking up Anthony Edwards earlier in this summer.
The Timberwolves revealed on Monday that they extended Jaden McDaniels’ contract for a number of years.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the agreement is for five years and $136 million.

McDaniels, 23, was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the 2020 draft. He was then transferred to the Los Angeles Lakers and then the Wolves.
Last season, McDaniels averaged 12.1 points per game for the Wolves, which was a career high. Despite missing the playoffs due to a hand injury sustained after striking a wall in anger, he started every game other than three.

The long, lean McDaniels is regarded as one of the best defenders in the league. McDaniels got votes as the player most likely to have a breakthrough season in this year’s NBA general managers poll.
In this summer, the Wolves also extended their contract with promising center Naz Reid. Reid signed a $32 million, three-year contract.
