Kristaps Porzingis on Sacrificing Stats for Celtics' Championship Pursuit: 'I'd Do That Trade Every Day' - Sports Illustrated Boston Celtics News, Analysis and More

The fact that Dwight Howard, a former eight-time All-Star, eight-time All-NBAer, five-time All-Defender, three-time Defensive Player of the Year, two-time NBA Blocks Leader, five-time NBA Rebounding Leader, and 2020 NBA Champion, cannot find a roster spot is one of the NBA’s most intriguing situations. Regardless of how individuals personally feel about him, the center is often connected with intense emotions.

Nevertheless, he is a formidable defensive center who significantly contributed to the Lakers’ NBA Championship victory in 2020. And the Boston Celtics need to think about contacting his agency.

The Celtics’ roster is, perhaps, complete with the now-international star. The Celtics lost their big man Robert Willams III in the Jrue Holiday deal, and although acquiring the previous championship guard was advantageous, it created a significant size gap on the Celtics roster.

A second past champion, such as Dwight, may alter that.

For Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford’s off days, Dwight Howard of the Boston Celtics would be the ideal big man

The Boston Celtics will need a terrific big who can replace Kristaps Porzingis and Al Hortford, giving them both much-needed rest as they aim to capture their first NBA title since the George W. Bush administration.

Dwight fits the bill. The Celtics can count on Howard to play them for around 10 to 15 minutes each night.

The front staff should want to have Howard as another big body to throw against Giannis Antetokounmpo as we know the east travels via Boston and Milwaukee. Howard would be the ideal brick wall for the Celtics to erect in order to prevent the Greek Freak from completely dominating the inside.

Although Howard may not be well-liked for his conduct off the court, this should not diminish the contribution he can provide for Boston. You choose them because of their potential influence on winning when you have a backup big who has won a championship and has Howard’s background.

It’s also important to remember that in life, success is determined by how you finish, and Dwight may conclude his career on a high note by joining the Boston Celtics, winning another NBA Championship, and contributing to the development of future stars during his last season in the league.

No club vying for the title should turn its back on a veteran with a track record of success at a low cost. Even at the end of his career, Howard more than deserves a job, thus Boston would be wise to be the club to provide it to him.
