Late in the second quarter of Sunday night’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Giants in Orchard Park, New York, running back Damien Harris suffered a neck injury and was carted off the field in an ambulance.
Harris took a carry on third-and-1 and gained one yard before being tackled by New York’s Bobby Okereke. The offensive lineman in front of Harris also looked to be struck by Harris’ head.
Harris stayed on the ground and received quick medical attention from trainers. To a backboard, he was fastened. Before being carried aboard the ambulance, Harris reportedly offered a thumbs-up, according to the NBC program. Later, the Bills stated that Harris was being transferred to the hospital for more testing and had movement in his arms and legs. Harris spent his first four seasons with the New England Patriots before joining Buffalo. On his first carry of the match, he got wounded.
