Swindon Town Transfer Prediction Issued With Trio Transfers Of Interest

Swindon Town’s season has been filled with highs and lows, but as the summer transfer window looms, speculation begins to mount over which key players might attract interest from clubs higher up the footballing pyramid.

With some standout performances across the squad, there are a few names that could be on the radar of clubs in League One and beyond.

Fan pundit identifies Swindon Town players that could attract transfer interest this summer

Ciaran Daniel, FLW’s Swindon Town fan pundit, told Football League World: “The fairly obvious one – there are a few players that I think will attract transfer interest – the biggest and obvious one is Harry Smith, all the goals he’s scored this season and how good he is up to.

“He’s just a natural goalscorer. There will be a lot of interest in him from League Two clubs, League One clubs I imagine as well. I

” imagine some people will pay serious money for a big goalscorer like that. He’s been on fire this season and I fully expect him to end up on 20+ goals this year. He will be the biggest player for our transfer talk, and will get the biggest interest – he’s already talked about in January as being untouchable, but the story is a very different story if someone comes in with a hell of an offer.

“Another player, Joel McGregor, young lad who can play right back – he is definitely going to get a lot of transfer interest in the summer. He was one who we expected to get a lot of interest in January, but Ian Holloway said he’s untouchable.

“I imagine he’ll move on in the summer to at least a League One club, if not a Championship club, he’s far too good to be playing in League Two, he’s got a lot of potential and he’s a young lad – I think he’s only a second year scholar or first year scholar. He came out of the youth team – he’s already far too good for us. He’s going to attract a lot of interest.

“A third one – I think Will Wright, centre back, will attract a lot of interest from League One, League Two clubs. He can take set pieces, he’s got that long throw and it’s almost like having a corner at times. He’s been really solid at centre back – he’s experienced – so I expect a lot of League One and League Two clubs to be interested in him – he wouldn’t go any higher than League One – but there will be interest.

“Those are the three to watch for transfer activity in the summer, and I think any of them would be a big loss to us next season. They’re the three we should be building a team around.”

Key prospects in Swindon Town’s squad

Harry Smith’s goal-scoring exploits could make him a prime target for clubs higher up the football pyramid.

With 14 goals in 29 appearances this season, the Millwall academy graduate has proven his quality, and if he reaches the 20-goal mark, League One clubs will surely come knocking.

Even well-backed League Two sides may test Swindon’s resolve with a significant bid.

Team Year Appearances Goals
Swindon Town 2024 – present 29 14
Sutton United 2023 – 2024 42 14
Barnet 2023 15 9
Leyton Orient 2021-2023 53 15

Meanwhile, 18-year-old right-back Joel McGregor has impressed in his 800 senior minutes this season, showcasing maturity, technical ability, and athleticism.

His rapid rise makes him a likely target for clubs in League One and beyond, and Swindon may struggle to keep hold of him.

At centre-back, Will Wright’s defensive experience, leadership, and set-piece prowess – including five goals from the backline this season – make him another standout performer. His long throws and dead-ball threat add another dimension, making him an appealing prospect for League One sides.

Losing any of these three would be a major setback as Ian Holloway looks to consolidate and build a competitive squad. Whether Swindon can fend off interest or will need to reinvest remains to be seen, but the summer window will be pivotal for their ambitions.
