The Las Vegas Raiders are expecting a massive overhaul this offseason. After a 2024 campaign in which the team was one of the very worst in the NFL, owner Mark Davis fired both the team’s head coach and general manager.
Players tend not to have loyalty to such poor franchises but Davis employed the help of minority owner Tom Brady to ease the burden. Their hiring of Pete Carroll and subsequent retaining of defensive coordinator Patrick Graham have made the team much more appealing to Las Vegas’ 27 pending free agents. Adam Butler acknowledged this fact on a recent episode of “Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast”.
“It will be a dream come true,” said Butler about the possibility of staying in Las Vegas. “It will be the perfect situation for me in my opinion. As long as you said the business makes sense, it will be a perfect situation. I love the team, I love the organization, and I would not want to be anywhere else.”
Butler enjoyed a resurgence in his career over the last two seasons in Las Vegas under Graham and defensive line coach Rob Leonard. Carroll recognized the work of those two coaches and made a smart decision to keep them on the staff.
As a result, the Raiders may be able to keep several top-flight free agents on the defensive side of the ball that they would not have been able to otherwise. Players like Butler, Tre’Von Moehrig and Malcolm Koonce are just a few notable Las Vegas defenders poised to test the free agency market this offseason.
In his two seasons with the Silver and Black, Butler contributed 10.0 sacks and 16 tackles for loss and he also added 93 tackles and six passes defended as well as two forced fumbles. Getting Butler back could be pivotal for the Las Vegas Raiders’ success in 2025 and beyond.
