Derby County Star Issues Apology To Fans After ‘Heads Dropped’ At QPR

Derby County star Ebou Adams has apologised to the travelling supporters on behalf of the Rams dressing room after the dismal reverse at Queens Park Rangers on Friday marked the beginning of John Eustace’s reign in the worst way possible.

Derby were turned over 4-0 by the Hoops following a brace from Ilias Chair, a strike from Koki Saito and a fourth from Southampton loanee Ronnie Edwards just after the hour mark. There was no immediate tonic delivered by Eustace, whose appointment was confirmed on Thursday but who has witnessed his regime endure a nightmare start.

Adams, who started the fixture and was replaced late in the game by Everton loanee Harrison Armstrong, agrees that the performance was in no way good enough and has expressed his regret for the result – particularly with the visiting fans in mind. Derby, who have collected two league points from the last 30 available, can only spend next week planning to make amends.

“We’ve got a week to work now, we have to look at ourselves as players and we’ve got to take responsibility for that performance,” Adams told RamsTV. “We have to apologise to the travelling fans that came here. We’ll now use that week to build and put this behind us and hopefully turn it on its head.

“I think we were doing all right in the first 15 minutes and a mistake led to the first goal. After that, it feels like we really dropped our heads and we gave them too many opportunities and lost too many duels, which they took the advantage of. It’s a bad day at the office.

“We’re going to have to put the game behind us and look at what mistakes we’ve made, what we could work on and then move on quickly, because we’re in a situation we don’t want to be in. [The next week will] be massive. The gaffer has got good ideas for us to work on.”
