Derby County’s potential move for Oscar Fraulo has been calmed down, with it claimed they’re yet to even contact his parent club about a switch.
Rheinische Post provide the cold downpour today as they cover Borussia Monchengladbach’s stance on their loanee.
A report earlier this week from the Netherlands explained that Derby had lined themselves up to sign Fraulo, essentially cancelling his loan at Utrecht and taking the player themselves on the same deal. That was described as a potential ‘robbery’.
The whole idea stemmed from the fact that the 21-year-old has seemingly fallen out of favour at Utrecht in recent weeks.
Rheinische Post explain that Monchengladbach are aware of the situation and the likelihood that Fraulo won’t get much game time in the second half of the season.
They’ve seen the reported rumours about Derby, but according to the newspaper’s editorial team, they are yet to even contact Monchengladbach about a potential deal.
The German side are keeping a close eye on the situation, though. They could even put the pressure on Utrecht to start using Fraulo more regularly. The inclination is that they do that or threaten to take Fraulo back.
The newspaper does question whether Fraulo would want to up sticks and start again. He, though, wants to be at the U21 European Championships in the summer and that will play a part in his decision making.
That could benefit Derby County if they do want him, but for now they haven’t been in contact and the transfer is not as hot as they suggested in the Netherlands this week.
