There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Trabzonspor could come back in for Southampton forward Paul Onuachu when the transfer window opens in January.
The 30-year-old was heavily linked with a return to the Super Lig side in the last transfer window following his successful loan spell with them during the last campaign.
Karadeniz Gazete today report on the latest developments regarding Onuachu’s future and they say the Nigeria international is unhappy with his situation at Southampton.
The attacker has struggled to get minutes for the Saints this season and played just one minute in the 1-0 victory over Everton at the weekend. This has led to speculation he could look to force a move in the new year and Trabzonspor are looking to take advantage. Trabzonspor coach Şenol Güneş is said to be keen to sign Onuachu and has instructed the club’s hierarchy to start work on getting a deal done.
During the summer the stumbling block was that Trabzonspor wouldn’t meet Southampton’s valuation of the player, but with his contract expiring in June 2026 it’s hoped his transfer fee may be reduced by the Premier League side.
Back to the old routine then.
