The New York KnicksĀ had a busy offseason this summer, and it looks like they are not done changing their roster around just yet. In an official statement put on their X account, the Knicks announced they signed 7ā2ā³ big manĀ Moses BrownĀ to an Exhibit 10 contract. Furthermore, the Knicks waivedĀ Boo Buie, whoĀ they just signed yesterday.
Brown most recently spent time with theĀ Portland Trail Blazers. Last season, the center played in 22 games for the team, including five starts. In those games, he averaged 3.4 points and 3.9 rebounds.
Since joining the league as an undrafted free agent in 2019, Brown has signed with numerous teams. This includes the Knicks, though he only played for their G League affiliate in 2023. Additionally, Brown has played for theĀ Oklahoma City Thunder,Ā Dallas Mavericks,Ā Cleveland Cavaliers,Ā Los Angeles Clippers, andĀ Brooklyn Nets.

Moses Brownās Role With the New York Knicks
Brown likely will not play for the Knicks on an NBA court this year, similar to how his first stint with the team went. The 25-year-old possesses a lot of tools, especially given his tremendous size. He is a unique paint presence and is a legitimate shot-blocking threat. However, he did not offer much on the court beyond that. However, the New York native is still young and is worth bringing in on a low-risk contract. This is especially true for the Knicks.
Arguably the biggest concern with the Knicksā roster is their center depth. The team acquiredĀ Karl-Anthony TownsĀ in a blockbuster trade from theĀ Minnesota TimberwolvesĀ very recently. However, the team looks slim beyond Towns.Ā Mitchell Robinson, who is now slated to be the teamās primary backup center, is expected to be out until sometime closer to December or January. Additionally, the Knicks will now rely more heavily on players likeĀ Precious AchiuwaĀ andĀ Jericho Sims.
If there is any team Brown could potentially fit, it is the Knicks. However, there is no expectation he will spend the year with the organization beyond the G League.
The Last Word On Moses Brown and the New York Knicks
There is a lot to be excited about with the Knicks this season. After their impressive run last season, the Knicks are a top-three team in the Eastern Conference on paper. Additionally, many believe the Knicks are the biggest threat to the reigning championĀ Boston CelticsĀ in the conference. For the first time in a long time, there are legitimate championship expectations in New York. All season, many will follow the development ofĀ Jalen BrunsonĀ and the recently acquiredĀ Mikal Bridges.
The Knicks kick off their regular season against the Celtics on October 22nd. New York has a great opportunity to solidify themselves as legitimate title contenders right away by beating the Celtics, or at least making it tough for them. Furthermore, the Celtics will be withoutĀ Kristaps Porzingis, a player Knicks fans are very familiar with.
