Johannes Hoff Thorup Talks On Key Factor In Hull City Hammering

Johannes Hoff Thorup hailed what he described as beautiful moments as his Norwich City outfit swept aside Hull City 4-0 at Carrow Road, and says the fast start to the game set the tone for a commanding success.

Norwich’s margin of victory was deserved after creating a flurry of chances against a wide-open Tigers, and it could have been greater had Josh Sargent not crashed his second half penalty against Ivor Pandur’s post.

Goals from Marcelino Nunez, Sargent, Kaide Gordon and the brilliant Borja Sainz extended the Canaries’ unbeaten home run in all competitions to 23 games and left City to face up to a heavy defeat which brought their three-game winning run to a rather abrupt end.

The hosts could have been two up inside the first few minutes, only to be denied by Pandur, before Nunez and Sargent made it 2-0 after just 20 minutes, and despite Tim Walter’s men recovering in the second period and creating some dangerous moments, a defensive howler gifted Gordon an easy third before the wonderful Sainz lobbed Pandur to complete the rout in the closing stages.

“That’s why we’re in the business, to try to entertain, play games where we enjoy it and where we’re just out there doing what we love to do. The best moments in the game today were really beautiful moments and definitely why we’re here,” the Carrow Road chief explained.

“The start of the game was fantastic, we created two chances before we score the first goal, which is the smallest chance of them all, and then a fantastic goal for the second one.

“The mentality and the attitude for us, trying to get forward, trying to score the next goal, so many players involved in the goals that we scored. I think, especially the first 25 minutes, really, really good.

This league, and we’re not there yet where we can dominate for 90 minutes. Hopefully, some day we can do it without having these moments in the game where we defend too much. That’s still something we have to look at and something we have to improve,” he explained.

“There will always be something. I go home and have dinner with my family, after that I will look at the game again. And, I’ll always find moments, sometimes too many, but we have to do that because it’s a fine balance.

“We have to enjoy and celebrate the good moments out there but we also have an obligation to be even better next week. We always look at performances critically because that’s what we have to do.”
