A key piece of the Dallas Mavericks’ locker room will return for the 2024-25 season.
In a press release, the Mavericks said they have re-signed forward Markieff Morris. Morris, 34, was pivotal to the team’s NBA Finals run last season.
While he only appeared in 26 games during the 2023-24 campaign, Morris stood out as a locker-room leader. He originally arrived in Dallas as part of the trade that sent Kyrie Irving from the Nets to the Mavericks.
Morris openly expressed the desire to return to Dallas over the offseason. He averaged 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds last year and will enter his 14th season in the NBA.
It’s been a productive offseason for the Mavericks, who added players like Klay Thompson, Quentin Grimes and Naji Marshall to their roster. They currently project as one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
