The Milwaukee Bucks did not exactly live up to expectations last NBA season, failing to win 50 games in spite of pairing Damian Lillard alongside of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Bucks have also been unable to do all that much this offseason due to financial restrictions. That means Milwaukee may need to get creative in order to improve.
Well, Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz has identified a potential trade target for the Bucks: Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson.
Clarkson is coming off of a 2023-24 campaign in which he played 55 games and averaged 17.1 points, five assists and 3.4 rebounds over 30.6 minutes per game on 41.3/29.4/88.1 shooting splits.
Clearly, it wasn’t Clarkson’s best season in terms of efficiency, but he did win the Sixth Man of the Year award back in 2020-21, and he has two years removed from registering over 20 points a night.
The 32-year-old has averaged 16 points per game over the course of his career while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor and 33.5 percent from three-point range.
The Milwaukee Bucks need another piece to take the next step
Since winning the championship in 2021, the Bucks have unquestionably declined, and much of that has to do with the fact that some of their key supplementary pieces are aging and declining.
Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez have certainly fallen off over the last several years, and Milwaukee seems to have acquired Lillard on the downside of his career.
Plus, Antetokounmpo’s injury history is starting to become a concern.
The Bucks really need to acquire another piece to take some pressure off of Antetokounmpo, but the problem is that they are very limited in terms of what they can do.
A player like Clarkson may ultimately represent the best option.
