Norwich City midfielder Gabriel Forsyth starred as Scotland’s under-19s came from behind to draw 2-2 with the Netherlands in Spain.
The young Tartan Army had already played twice this international break, Forsyth involved as they beat Azerbaijan and the Faroe Islands.
But the 18-year-old featured again, playing from the start as Rudi Allan-Molotnikov’s double earned them a draw from 1-0 down at half time.
He’ll return to the Canaries’ Colney training base in short order, after his senior Scotland colleagues ended their break with a 2-1 loss to Portugal.
Also back to club football soon will be Amankwah Forson and Callum Doyle, who were both unused substitutes for their respective sides.
The former watched on from the bench as Ghana drew 1-1 with Niger in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, his late call-up not rewarded with a single minute after sitting out the Black Stars’ 1-0 loss to Angola last week.
The latter’s England under-21s were more successful, bouncing back from a disappointing draw with Northern Ireland to beat Austria 4-1. Goals from Morgan Rogers (2), James McAtee and Tom Fellows sealed the victory for Ben Futcher’s side, Jonathan Rowe coming on as a substitute.
