Johannes Hoff Thorup Offers Furious Midfielder’s Injury Update After Carabao Cup Defeat

Johannes Hoff Thorup is confident that Amankwah Forson’s shoulder injury is not as bad as first feared.

The Norwich City midfielder suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder after losing his footing when applying pressure to Crystal Palace’s Will Hughes in the first half of their 4-0 Carabao Cup defeat.

Forson was administered gas and air as well as given an injection on the pitch before heading to the ambulance at Selhurst Park, where it was popped back into place. He later re-emerged with his arm in a sling.

The City boss was pressed for an update on the summer signing post-match, and although Forson is unlikely to be available for Saturday’s trip to Coventry, Thorup was confident it wouldn’t leave him sidelined for an extended period.

“It was an injury with the shoulder. Of course, you never really know, but it looked a little bit better than expected when we saw him after afterwards,” Thorup confirmed post-match at Selhurst Park.

“We need to wait and see. We need to have a doctor look at it, and we’ll see how it goes, but I’m crossing my fingers. I think it’s actually a little bit better than I expected.

“We will wait and see, but otherwise, it’s another one who needs to step in and make a good performance. What we saw tonight is that some of the guys who haven’t played as much this season – they were ready. That’s a positive sign.”

“Regarding the chances, I think the way that we’ve approached the games and have been doing for the last couple of weeks especially, we will get many chances in the games that we play.

“It’s just a matter of time before we start scoring more than just one or two goals in the games. The boys did well in terms of that.

“It is more the defensive part where it’s not because we allow too many chances against us; in four moments of the game, they showed high quality and we could have done better. It’s those moments I want to look at and see if we can improve.”
