One-time Norwich City striking target Bertug Yildirim has secured his move away from Rennes by signing for La Liga side Getafe.
The Turkish international was close to joining the Canaries earlier this month after the two sides agreed a fee and personal terms were struck, only for Norwich to pull the plug on the prospective deal owing to the results of his medical.
Despite Yildirim not failing the medical, City decided to proceed in a different direction after considering the risk too great to continue with the deal.
Reports in Turkey also suggested there were problems between the clubs regarding the payment structure of the deal whilst Yildirim’s agent went public to reject the idea that his client had any fitness issues.
Yildirim has now got his wish of a move away from France, opting to join Getafe on a season-long loan agreement with the option to make the move permanent next summer.
City subsequently opted to move quickly to sign Rakow attacker Ante Crnac in a deal initially worth £8.5m, who made his debut in the Canaries’ 1-1 draw with Sheffield United on Saturday.
The Canaries are still searching for attacking reinforcements as the transfer window moves into its final week. There is also an expectation of further outs as Ben Knapper and Johannes Hoff Thorup seek to refine their squad.
