Sheffield Wednesday have been handed a boost in their pursuit of former Blackpool loanee Karamoko Dembele this summer after a development in the saga.
It was revealed by journalist Joe Crann of the Sheffield Star back in May that the Owls were eyeing up a move for Dembele after his successful stint at Bloomfield Road in which he scored nine goals and recorded 14 assists despite the Seasiders missing out on the play-offs.
However, Sheffield Wednesday are not the only side interested in his signature. Darren Witcoop reported earlier this week that the South Yorkshire outfit are joined by the likes of newly-promoted Championship sides Derby County and Portsmouth and that all three clubs have even made offers to Brest.
Meanwhile, The Bolton News stated that League One’s Bolton Wanderers have made contact with Stade Brestois regarding the possibility of signing the London-born playmaker on a permanent basis, despite Dembele having a market value of between £1.8-2.8 million, as per Football Transfers, which may be outside the Trotters’ price range.
Nevertheless, Danny Rohl’s side have received a slight boost to their hopes of signing the 21-year-old as Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has stated that there is no truth to Pompey readying a bid for Dembele “at the moment” while speaking in a recent interview with The News, Portsmouth.
“There’s nothing in that at the moment, that’s another one there’s no preparing or readying a bid!”
Wednesday have already made some astute attacking signings this summer, bringing Swansea City‘s top goalscorer from last season, Jamal Lowe, to the club after his contract with Bournemouth expired. Additionally, the Owls have also acquired the signatures of centre-forward Charlie McNeill, attacking midfielder Svante Ingelsson, and winger Olaf Kobacki.

Sheffield Wednesday have been superb in the transfer market so far. The club let several first-team members walk out the door for free but only those who were deadwood around the squad, while managing to replace them with younger, hungrier and all-round better players.
Dembele is one of the most wanted players in England’s second tier this summer and if the club manage to win the race for the former Celtic academy star’s signature, it would definitely cause the rest of the division to stand up and take notice.
