It has been another exciting season for the academy at Swindon, making a run to the FA Youth Cup Third Round and being unfortunate to get knocked out by Queens Park Rangers and seeing five new players get their first senior involvement.

The first year scholars who were a huge part of last year’s success have also had very strong campaigns, with Joel McGregor and Jaxon Brown both playing for the first team and Sonny Hart and Redman Evans impressing out on loan.

With the season coming towards its close, Wood sat down with The Adver to discuss how he viewed the performance and challenges from the academy this season.

Current scholars Miles Obodo and Ant McCormick have also both joined Non-League clubs on loan deals and Wood spoke about how those moves would assist with their development towards the senior set-up.

Additionally, with Ian Holloway taking a huge interest in the academy and discussing how he believed improvements could be made to help that pathway, Wood spoke about what he felt could be done to assist that.
