According to sources speaking to Football Insider, Youri Tielemans’ long-term future at Aston Villa is in serious question after a clash with manager Unai Emery.
The 26-year-old Tielemans is dissatisfied with his position at Villa Park and has yet to begin a Premier League game for the Midlands giants.
Despite having just recently joined Aston Villa, it is said that he is eager to leave in January owing to his difficult relationship with Emery.
Tielemans has already informed his inner circle that he wants go as soon as possible since the two have had trouble getting along.
After leaving Leicester City on a free transfer after their relegation, the Belgian international signed a four-year contract in July.
The midfielder’s transfer, however, did not go as expected, and he has not yet managed to make it into Emery’s first-choice starting eleven.
Although he has served as a substitute in every Premier League game this season, he is yet to be included in the starting lineup for a game in the top level.
Instead, he has started four of the five games he has played in this season’s League Cup and Europa Conference League.
His most recent appearance was in last week’s (5 October) tight 1-0 Group E win against Zrinjski Mostar.
Tielemans had expressed his dissatisfaction with the chances he received while playing at Villa.
The Belgian informed reporters that his position at Aston Villa is “not pleasant” before the most recent international break in remarks that were reported by Birmingham Live on September 8th.
The midfielder revealed he told manager Unai Emery that “I came to Villa to play” – and insisted the Spaniard’s response to the situation “doesn’t help me move forward”.
John McGinn, Douglas Luiz, and Boubacar Kamara are now preventing Tielemans from joining the side.
When Jacob Ramsey fully recovers from the injury that has restricted his participation so far this season, he may provide more competition for him.
